So like I have decided to choose life and study and hopefully have a career.

I looked into SAP (http://sap.co.za) and got confused firstly at what the fuck it actually was and now i have a basic understanding. I spoke to a friend of mine who works at t systems in south africa and he recommended the abap programming course from sap which teaches you their abap language etc etc.. apparently you can make like 850 000 a year if ur good and possibly more...

Now comes the dodge part and the "i need advice part". The abap course itself consists of 25 days and a price of, wait for it, R43 000 crying.gif holy fuck turds. so .. is it at all worth it or is cti/ varsity a better choice for now?

I was going to go the SAP rote as well but its just to expensive for me right now. I have a few friends specialising in it and yeah they are making decent money. But dont listen to the OH U WILL MAKE A FORTUNE crap.

I know of ABAP guys with 5 yrs + experience working for 12K a month. It does seem a bit difficult to get a good position with little experience, but its like that with most things.

Either way good luck

Bloodmonkey, the days of earning abnormally huge salaries are over.

Im with Hunter and i fall exactly into that bracket as well. I had these ludicrious dreams of becoming a millionare overnight, but sadly it just doesnt happen these days anymore. I even started at R3000 a month and as i gained experience and switched jobs a few times i upped my sal.

That figure you mentioned however could be a direct conversion from $$$$ as i with my current job exp and stuff could in theory earn that amount in us dollars ($110,000 a year ) if i was to relocate...

anywhoo i wish you good luck on your endevours...

PS 25 days for 45 grand ?? there is def something dodge going on there, id be careful if i was you...

Hey Bloodmonkey

Im a Consultant for a SAP solution provider. SAP is slowly moving away from the ABAP platform and moving into the SOA type Java .NET enviroments. My opinion is that to study ABAP now might be a waiste of time as it is dying a slow death and competing with guys with 5 yr + experience would be difficult.

If you want to go the SAP route, look at SAP BW. Business Intellegence is a hot topic at the moment...BW being the SAP solution. There is a huge gap in the market in regard to skills here but also only the bigger consulting firms playing in this space. Next up is middelware, also used with BI solutions like SAP BW. SAP has got a solution for middelware XI. XI is a java serviced oriented solution.

Good luck. smile.gif
